On March 15th, the 42nd International Consumer Rights Protection Event, sponsored by the Chang'an District Market Supervision Administration and the Chang'an District Consumer Association, and co organized by the School of Public Policy and Administration of Northwestern Polytechnical University, was held at the Chang'an Square Pedestrian Street in Chang'an District. Multiple units and enterprises, including the Chang'an District Justice Bureau, Chang'an District Procuratorate, Chang'an District Fire Brigade, Shaanxi Xifeng Liquor Co., Ltd., and Shaanxi Tobacco Company Xi'an Logistics Branch, participated in this event. Professor Tian Jingting, the 2023 counselor of the School of Public Policy and Administration, led 15 undergraduate students from the 2023 cohort to participate in this event.

The theme of this event is "Optimizing the Consumption Environment, Stimulating Consumption Vitality". Through promotional display boards, hanging promotional banners, setting up consultation desks, displaying counterfeit and shoddy goods, distributing promotional materials, and setting up on-site acceptance of consumer complaints, the event aims to promote laws, regulations, and basic knowledge on consumer rights protection, product quality, intellectual property rights, livelihood and metrology, food, medicine and cosmetics, special equipment, and identification of counterfeit and shoddy goods to the general public. It answers consumer questions about consumer rights protection and provides policy consultation and legal rights protection services to guide consumers to consume scientifically, rationally, and with peace of mind.

At the event, our volunteers, dressed in uniform, enthusiastically distributed consumer rights protection brochures to past citizens, patiently explained relevant laws and regulations such as the Consumer Rights Protection Law and the Food Safety Law. They provided detailed explanations and on-site answers to various consumer rights protection inquiries from the public on issues such as preventing telecommunications fraud, consumer right to withdraw, online shopping platform responsibility, and consumer fraud compensation.

Students expressed that this activity not only provided legal education and publicity for the general public, but also enhanced their social practice abilities. This is a powerful practice for our school to implement the goal of cultivating "chief teacher" talents, deeply explore and promote the culture of "chief teacher education", broaden students' academic horizons, and cultivate "professional excellence, strong system, emphasis on practice, and courage to take responsibility". In the future, our school will continue to carry out more innovative and practical activities, interpreting the connotation of "chief teacher" talents with practical actions.
